Geeze, 10 plus days since my last blog post. The holidays, work, family coming to town, miles to put in, every excuse in the book. I am going to try and get a little more proactive on this whole blog thing. So here I sit with a nice Italian red next to me, red wine that is. You will find as this blog travels onward there will be more mentions of wine along the way. So the big question right now is, what Marathon did I sign up for? I started seriously running long distances more than 2 years ago and I've always told myself if I ever got the nerve to run a full marathon there could only be one race. The Big Sur International Marathon.
Big Sur represents so much to this blogger. I was born and raised in California first off, second I've traveled to a few places around the globe and can find no more beautiful locale than the Central Coast of California. Big Sur also represents a heck of a challenge, it ain't flat that is for sure but it doesn't appear to be an extremely difficult race. I looked at other races around the country and decided, like Goldlocks that "this one was just right." I want something to challenge me but at the same time create memories that I will never forget. So as the weeks go by I'll dig deeper into what exactly Big Sur represents to this runner.
We are now at a little over 4 months til race time, my training is just starting to ramp up. In regards to training, my focus now is on the PF Chang's Rock and Roll Half Marathon, January 17th 2010. 5 miles today, and an easy 4 miler tomorrow. Ran a decent 10 miler last Sunday and my times are where I want them to be, so far, so good. Until next time, keep smilin and keep running.
